Don's Mobile Glass, with the help of other local businesses and civic groups, gave 75 deserving children a Christmas treat.
This time-honored and cherished tradition began 41 years ago when our founder, Don Monaco, was inspired to take just a handful of deserving children on a holiday shopping spree.
Each year, more people joined in on the enthusiasm we have for the children of the community and the event has grown exponentially. With the help of the Modesto City School District, the Salvation Army, and a long list of Santa’s Little Helpers, this year we were fortunate to have 75 children and more than 160 sponsors participate in the festivities.
The children were able to enjoy a holiday dinner, a performance from the Downey High School Madrigals Choir, and were even paid a visit from Santa himself.
A special thanks to the Downey Key Club who took a total of 27 children shopping this year; the Modesto Kiwanis who donated more than 100 children’s books; the Duarte Nursery in Hughson for its donation of poinsettias; JCPenney of Vintage Fair Mall for its generosity in providing gift cards and Santa hats; and the Skechers Factory Outlet Store in Modesto for its hefty store discount.
This special event would not be possible without the help of our friends, family, neighbors, and especially the sponsors who take these exceptional children shopping. To date, we have been able to provide shopping trips for 3,886 children and we hope to have even more. With a huge amount of gratitude, please take a moment to review the photographs taken and download as many as you like.
