Smeary Windshield

Taking care of your windshield wipers, even in times of drought, will help keep you from needing a windshield repair company.

Let’s hope the forecasters are right and we get some rain today. If it does rain, that means you could be using windshield wipers that haven’t been used in awhile. That’s potentially bad. Poorly maintained windshield wipers are one of the primary causes of windshield scratches. Dirt and grit get caught in them, or perhaps the blade has come loose, leaving the wiper arm to scrape against your windshield. In other cases, worn wiper blades just smear dirt, grime and grit across your windshield as it takes several times to clear away the mess. And, if you’re out of fluid, the dry stuff just gets ground in until you hit the off button.

Worn wiper blades are pretty common. The non-profit Car Care Council, which has designated April as Car Care Month, notes that, at free car care inspections across the country last year, a whopping 84 percent of cars had a problem. Of those, 16 percent had windshield wiper problems and 27 percent had low wiper fluid. So, it’s best to care for your windshield wipers.

But if you haven’t and you have scratches from wiper blades, or other sources, it’s time to call Don’s Mobile Glass.
